Sean Murphy is a Veteran, Father and Attorney seeking your vote for Governor’s Council (District 2)

 

Sean enjoys helping a variety of clients with their legal concerns. He has a very successful practice that covers a broad spectrum of litigation and non-litigation matters, experience that will very well serve him and the district community he is seeking to represent as a Governor’s Council member.  He has extensive experience litigating probate matters such as will contests and trust disputes, as well as personal injury and Landlord/Tenant matters. His non-litigation practice areas include Probate Administration & Estate Planning, Business, Land Use and Municipal matters. As Assistant City Solicitor, Sean represented the City of Brockton in a wide range of municipal matters including code enforcement, receivership, M.G.L. c. 258 claims and ordinance drafting.

Sean’s experience goes beyond the legal field. He has founded and operated small businesses, been involved with commercial construction and development, was a HUD Approved Real Estate Appraiser for many years, and worked in the trades as a union electrician. While serving in United States Navy he was awarded the Navy Achievement Medal for his exceptional performance as a team member of the Visit Board Search & Seizure (VBSS) team enforcing the safe and successful conduct of Marine interception operations during Operation Desert Fox in the Arabian Gulf, an Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, a Good Conduct Medal, and received several citations. Sean was also trained at the Institute of Business Appraisers (IBA) and has a Bachelor of Science in Business Management. These additional experiences and exemplary Navy service will bring strong, innovative and resolute leadership skills to the Governor’s Council with the utmost integrity and moral standards. 

Sean graduated Cum Laude from Thomas Jefferson School of Law. During his time at the Thomas Jefferson School of Law, he achieved a variety of honors and distinctions, including a Dean’s Scholarship and multiple high-grade awards. He served as a Law Review editor, took part in the advanced mediation program, and helped several fellow veterans through the Thomas Jefferson’s Veterans Legal Assistance Clinic.

WHAT IS THE GOVERNOR’S COUNCIL OF MASSACHUSETTS?

 

The Governor’s Council provides advice and consent on gubernatorial appointments, pardons and commutations, and warrants for the state treasury.

 

Who we serve…

 

The Massachusetts Governor’s Council, also known as the Executive Council, is composed of eight individuals elected from districts, and the Lieutenant Governor who serves ex officio. The eight councilors are elected from their respective districts every two years. The Council meets weekly to record advice and consent on warrants for the state treasury, pardons and commutations, and recording advice and consent to gubernatorial appointments such as judges, clerk-magistrates, public administrators, members of the Parole Board, Appellate Tax Board, Industrial Accident Board and Industrial Accident Reviewing Board, notaries, and justices of the peace.
